Quantitative Academic Research:
Analysis of Corporal Punishment Across Religious Demographics in the United States
Abstract
Prior research has shown that more lenient attitudes about corporal punishment are associated with conservatively religious individuals. Conservative Christians especially express favorable attitudes towards corporal punishment than non-conservatives. This study seeks to broaden the understanding of that correlation by exploring additional variables that may influence that trend, such as degree of religious participation, socioeconomic status, and race. Using both regression and cross tabulation, this study explores how religious identity and degree of religiousness both influence a person’s attitude towards spanking as an acceptable means of discipline.

Over the last 70 months, Telco, a global telecommunications company, has experienced a 27% loss in their customer base. This project explores Telco's customer database to determine drivers of the company's churn rate and using the insights gained to create a supervised machine learning model to predict a customer's likeliness to churn.
